Melissa Beichner is a classroom music teacher turned stay-at-home-mom. She spent nine years teaching primarily middle and high school vocal and general music (with some elementary in the mix), and she also directed extra-curricular music programs and school musical productions.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Mercyhurst University, with a concentration in piano and minor in voice, her Master of Music in Music Education from Kent State University, and she is additionally certified in the Feierabend Association for Music Education (FAME) program, First Steps in Music.
During her time in the classroom, Melissa was awarded the Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence, her choirs performed twice at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and she was invited to become an adjunct professor of Secondary General Methods in the music department at her alma mater, Mercyhurst University.
While she misses working with older students and mentoring student and new teachers, after becoming a mother, Melissa became very passionate about early childhood music education. She loves to learn about the effect music experiences have on children’s growing brains, and she feels very grateful to be able to share her early childhood Mommy & Me style music classes in an online setting where they are accessible for all.
